This year’s Atoll and Zone tournament is confirmed to kick off on 12 th of this month with 68 teams participating. The tournament’s inauguration will be held in Mulaku island of Meemu atoll. The most number of teams are participating from Laamu Atoll with 11 teams and Gdh. Thinadhoo and La. Gamu each sending four teams, becoming islands with most number of teams.

Zone one, which contains the most northern atolls, will have 9 teams competing; that is eight teams from Haa Dhaalu atoll and one team from Haa Alifu atoll. Zone two having seven teams (six from Shaviyani and one from Noonu), zone three has ten teams (Three from Raa, Two from Baa, Five from Lhaviyani), zone four has four teams (one from Kaafu and Alifu Alifu, two teams from Alifu Dhaalu), zone five has eleven teams (five from Meemu, four from Dhaalu, One from Vaavu and Faafu), zone six has 16 teams (eleven from Laamu, five from Thaa, zone seven has six teams (one from Gaafu Alifu and five from Gaafu Dhaalu) and zone eight, the most southern two atolls, sends four teams; that is two from Fuvammulah and Addu.

The winners from each zone will qualify to the zone 1-8 tournament, that will be played in Male’ and the finalists will have the chance to playing Dhiraagu Dhivehi League. Last year, Foakaidhoo and Foundation for Vilufushi Development, advanced to Dhivehi League as champions and runners up respectively.
